ACT Emergency Services Agency
I have worked on projects in conjunction with AES at Kambah Joint Emergency Services Centre, incorporating ACT Fire Brigade and ACT Ambulance Service facilities and personnel. The project was to remove and remediate the site in association with on-site underground fuel storage tanks. The work carried out by AES was in accordance with all relevant Australian Standards, ACT Government and ESA requirements with the primary benefits being;
- Excellent managed communications between site personnel, project team and contractors
- Work delivered within budget and on time,
- High standard of work and having skilled and knowledgeable staff,
- Great value for money project and site management,
- Effective project scoping and scope management.
I would be happy to clarify or add to any of the information provided above, please contact me at your convenience.

APP Corporation, acting as Superintendent on behalf of Roads & Maritime Services, have been supervising Australian Enviro Services (AES) in the delivery of remedial works at Woolooware Bay. I have found AES to be excellent to work with. AES have demonstrated attention to detail, technical understanding of the scope, excellent communication skills and professionalism. AES has demonstrated a commitment to delivering a quality outcome and have gone out of their way to ensure the success of the project. I would be happy to engage them again.

AES recently remediated an 88,000m2 site by excavating and stockpiling approximately 20,000m3 of asbestos impacted soils. As part of the remedial works, AES was also responsible for the establishment and management of the associated asbestos soil stockpiling area.
It was critical that these works were delivered by a set date for the client, and AES completed all aspects of their scope successfully and on time. I found them to be professional, knowledgeable, dedicated and hardworking. Of particular note was their strict compliance with site-specific management requirements and transparency of daily operations.

Boral Plasterboard
I’m pleased to provide this reference following the recent project was undertaken by Australian Enviro Services Pty Ltd (AES) to remove asbestos cladding and related impacts from our Plasterboard warehouse facility in Fyshwick ACT. AES was professional throughout the project from tendering through to project completion which was achieved on time and within budget. Furthermore, AES took a fair and reasonable approach to variations which were managed well to minimise impacts on the budget and program.
The works completed by AES and its subcontractors were of a high quality and resulted in the site being given a complete clearance from asbestos impacts. Independent monitoring throughout the project confirmed the works were completed in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
AES took a very professional approach to managing both community consultation and industrial relations in conjunction with the Boral project team, avoiding the potential for delays or community complaints. Similarly, the environmental and safety management of AES was to a very high standard, with no incidents occurring throughout the project.
Yours sincerely,

We engaged Australian Enviro Services (AES) to conduct remedial works at our City Ford project in Surry Hills. This project has been technically difficult, involving an unexpected expansion of scope as well as a technical review by an NSW EPA Site Auditor.
I found AES to be extremely responsive when dealing with the many additional tanks that were discovered and openly transparent with all additional costs as the increase in scope works ended up being more than double the original contract value. At each stage, AES performed their works in a professional manner with an emphasis on safety and environmental responsibility. I found their ability to maintain effective communication between our site personnel, sub-contractors and NSW EPA Site Auditor to be critical in resolving the unexpected challenges that we experienced.
As such I would have no hesitation in providing a reference for James Costello and all his team at Australian Enviro Services.

Googong Water Treatment Plant and Googong Rangers Station
I am writing to provide you with feedback on your performance for the Googong Water Treatment Plant and Googong Rangers Station Contamination Containment projects. As you are aware these projects, particularly at the Rangers station contamination containment project, have been difficult, and ActewAGL’s expectations regarding the scale of the rectification works have been drastically exceeded.
I have been very pleased with the professional and flexible approach you have taken with these projects. With both programs and budgets constantly moving it has been difficult to monitor and control progress. However, the regular communication and advice you have provided to ActewAGL have made that task much easier.
I understand it has also been difficult for you to manage your resources around a project where programs are shifting and I am appreciative of the responsiveness you have shown in adapting to situations as they evolve.
It has been a direct result of your efforts and “best for project” approach that both of these projects will come to a positive conclusion. I am happy to recommend your organisation for future contamination work.

Australian Enviro Services Pty. Ltd. (AES) was subcontracted by lqon Pty. Ltd. to undertake the
removal of redundant underground storage tanks (UST’s) at several ACT school sites as part of
the DET (Schools) P2 package of works for ACT Procurement Solutions on behalf of the
Department of Education and Training.
The scope of works included the location, removal, and in one case in-situ abandonment of
UST’s and pipework at the following schools.
- Canberra High School ($35,900)
- Stromlo High School ($28,200)
- Alfred Deakin High School ($122,300)
- Narrabundah College ($48,500)
- Copland College ($78,600)
- Telopea Park School ($37,350)
lqon again subcontracted AES to remove another UST at Fraser Primary School as part of
another project for ACT Procurement Solutions ($37,900).
The majority of the works had to be carried out during school term breaks which made for very
tight time frames, and also required coordination with the many various subcontractors on site
performing other works associated with the project, as well as testing and reporting obligations
to the regulatory authorities.
The attention to detail at all stages, from Safe Work Method, Statements through to liaison with
and reporting to Environment ACT and ACT Work Cover, planning and staging and flexibility to work with the site foreman and school requirements made this part of the overall project a problem free exercise.
I have no hesitation in recommending James Costello and his company Australian Enviro Services to carry out any works in this specialised field.

We engaged Australian Enviro Services to remove two disused underground diesel storage tanks. The work was required to be completed within a short timeframe from our advice to proceed. In addition, the UST’s were located in a somewhat precarious position in relation to our building alignment. I can only commend the company for its professional and meticulous attention to detail.
We have no hesitation in recommending James Costello and his team to anyone requiring similar
work.
