Sometimes your site remediation can’t start until a building, or certain elements are demolished and removed, and in these situations the demolition is often more complicated because of the presence of hazardous materials or contamination.
For this very reason, we maintain a SafeWork NSW Restricted Demolition license (chemical installation allowance) with multiple supervisors on our license to manage the works, so we can take care of the demolition ourselves.
Structural Demolition
Structural demolition involves the careful planning, and safe destruction of buildings by manual or mechanical means. Mechanical demolition generally involves excavators and large hydraulic equipment, and is a reasonably fast process while manual demolition is done by hand, and is a lot slower. Often both methods of demolition are required to safely bring down a building.
The kind of demolition required will depend on the site, composition of the structure and the nature of the contaminant. For example, if your Hazardous Material Report identifies bonded or friable asbestos, synthetic mineral fibres, lead dust or paint or PCBs (poly chlorinated biphenyls) – we’ll remove and dispose of these materials prior to demolition works commencing.

Internal reconfiguration or strip out
If the demolition required involves an internal reconfiguration or strip out, the process is generally a manual one. We can remove walls, ceilings, and flooring, along with all the associated electrical and plumbing systems, leaving the site completely empty, and ready for remediation to begin.
