When reviewing your project, we’ll develop a Remediation Action Plan (RAP) specifically for the site, and contamination requirements. Cap and contain is one approach that can be highly successful, and we have many years of experience in delivering in-situ and ex-situ caps, along with all the associated surveying, drainage and landscaping requirements.
In-situ Cap and Contain
This is where the contaminated soil remains on site, but is prevented from contaminating the surrounding environment by covering it with a synthetic fabric, a layer of soil, or another appropriate material. Depending on the nature of the contaminant that layer could also be a geo synthetic clay liner, concrete cap, or a poly weave fabric. Often a combination of layers is used specific to the situation.
In-situ capping can be an extremely cost-effective way of treating contaminated soil compared to excavation and disposal, especially when large quantities of soil are concerned.
Ex-situ Cap and Contain
Ex-situ caps use the same approach, however the contaminated soil must be removed to a location on site where it can be capped appropriately.
